Does anyone out there have much experiance with the testronics bench aoi system? We apperently cannot get a demo and are considering the testronics and a mirtec system. Any other systems out there that are in the 25-60k range you would recommend?

Simple, if you can't get a demo (or choose from a huge number of reference sites)walk away with your cash to someone who can help.

Also: Yestech & MVP are pretty good.

This is a very competitive market segment. We setup 3 of them side by side at the same time on a demo basis in our facility. Work with them as much as you can, and setup an objective test of their capabilities. Good luck. John S.

Howdy, I have a Mirtec MV-TH2L bench top model and I like it. You could look at Yestech. They are in that range. The reason I like my Mirtec is that it programs up easily and does what we want it to do. So far in the last 4 months that we have had it we have decreased our failure rate at test by 50%, which is no small feat. We have in the neighborhood of 250 or so defects in millions of opportunities now and getting better as we fine tune our processes. Best regards, Jay Brower

Good Morning,

We also have several Mirtec M2HTL's. They have been responsible for taking SMT off of the defect radar screen. We are also using one to verify the through hole auto insert process. I have been told by our President that the Mirtec's were the best investment into capitol equipment that my company has made. That's a pretty strong statement.

I did want to say that whatever system that you choose, there is an initial investment of time and an ongoing requirement for program maintenance. The more you put into programming and debuging, the better it will work on the floor. I have been told by some equipment manufacturers that there is no maintenance required once it is programmed. Due to the variation of component and component manufacturers, I do not see how this is possible.

I would really suggest you get an in house demo with one of your boards. If you cannot get one, they do not want your business that bad. The machine that you see running at the trade show will not show any false calls as all of them have been debuged out. Do not send a test board to them ahead of time. You want to see how long it takes to pogram and debug from scratch. This will give you a "real world" sense of how the machine will perform.

Best of luck!

C

Hi

Kindly have a look into the SAKI's benchtop system. I have not used it.But seen the demo. Different technology.Pretty fast and accurate. Definitley would go with them , when we plan.

I would also ask others, if they can provide their opinion on SAKI's products.

We evaluated several "low" cost AOI systems and found that they are not reliable nor repeatable. We have the Mirtec system. It has been a great asset for us. Ask them for some of their references and I'm sure you'll here the same things from their customers who also have evaluated other systems.

We heard about the Saki systems and did not receive positive feedback. They are quite fast but they miss a lot of easy defects; especially solder ones. Have you checked out a Mirtec system yet?

Hello Barry,

I have not had any experience with the Testronics bench top system. I did, however, evaluate MIRTEC, MVP, N-Spec and YESTech. In my opinion, the MVP was simply too complicated and took too long to program for a low volume high mix manufacturing environment. I was equally not impressed with the Mac based N-Spec machine. I narrowed the playing field to MIRTEC and YESTech.

The programming was very similar between the two machines. I personally feel that MIRTEC offers more "bells and whistles". But the main reason why I selected MIRTEC was the fact that the machine provided better defect coverage than the competitive system. You would be amazed at some of the defects that the other guys missed. I mean simple stuff like missing 0402 components, a lifted lead on a QFP100 and even one instance where we hand placed an 0603 chip cap in place of a chip resistor (a little embarassing, but hey STUFF happens!). I also ran a very simple Gage R&R test on the two systems which really justified my decision to go with MIRTEC.

My sales rep just told me that MIRTEC was awarded Frost and Sullivan's 2006 Product Quality Leadership Award... that makes me feel good about my decision.

Remeber there is no substitute for first hand experience. Put the equipment to the test before you buy!

Best of luck with your equipment selection process...

My two cents...

WE LOOKED INTO THE YESTECH AND THE MIRTECH. TODAY WE ARE INSTALLING OUR NEW MIRTECH AOI MACHINE. WE CHOSE THIS MACHINE OVER THE YESTECH BECAUSE OF IT'S OFFERINGS. THE YESTECH WAS A CLOSE SECOND. I WILL POST LATER ON THE PROGRAMMING, THEY ARE ALL CONFUSING WHEN YOU FIRST BEGIN.

A number of us had past experiences at larger CMS, but we narrowed it down to Mirtec and Yestech. We had them both in our plant for a head to head test. To keep it fair our President ran both machine thru the test. At the end we picked Yestech. Both good machines in my opinion. A strong point about Mirtec is that Korea is a LONG way away for support, updates and parts. A stronger point for me is that is built in USA by Americans.

My 2 cents
