We are deciding on using SN100C on leadfree wave soldering process. As always I am a little worried when materials are not proven or lack of data! I like to see what you guys (not sales people) think about SN100C alloy, specially if you have been using it.

Thanks,

Mike

I have to inform you that if you dont let "sales people" talk about lead-free You will experience total silence.

I will let you draw your own conclusions.

SN100C, not as aggressive towards other metals as are other High tin lead free alloys. Why? Sn63/pb37 The lead prevented the tin from being very aggressive. SAC305 no lead, silver instead. Silver doesnt block Tin from it's aggresiveness. SN100C no silver, added nickel, nickel acts similiar to lead in preventing the aggressiveness of the high tin content. Shinier solder joints, better wetting, less expensive. Need we say more???

Oh no you caught me. I'm a salesperson. "We" refers to the dozen or so customers I have sold this alloy to. We refers to all the data that can be found via the internet. The product is patented by Nihon superior and has proven reliability. Look if you have to go lead free for thru-hole technology this alloy appears to be the one of choice. SMT? Temps a bit high at the moment 227c. I don't push product on people, it's your choice I just educate based on reliable history. And I learn alot from this website. How many salespeople refer to this website to learn anything? Humbly yours Steve the salesperson

Its all good steve! We had you pegged. It shows something that you came back to clarify

So anyway my recent searches are possibly showing that alphas SACx may be a better choice. less wetting time and supposedly fewer defects. I saw some test data from them showing these results. And yes I beat the cr$p out of 'em for the exact study details not just the results printed in the sales brochure.

What do you think?
