Our company is looking into purchasing an in-line conformal coating machine. We have narrowed the field down to 2 machines the USI Prism Ultra-coat 350 and the Asymtek C-740, anybody have either machine. Good points or bad about either machine? Thanks for any input.

We will be using acrylics only. We are looking for a machine that will allow us to have 20 to 30 keep out areas per PCB. How's your machine at keep out areas? Thank you for any input.

We use the SC-205 head and we are pretty satified (just keep everything clean and keep a constant viscosity to eliminate nozzle problem). I'm not sure what you mean by keep out area but you can determine with quite precision by software where you want and don't want coating. No more need of caping and masking since it's a film coater so no more fumes. Just need to be careful not to make 2 passes at the same place or there will be splashes due to the pressure.

We have a C-740. I agree with the second pass statement. Be careful how much you overlap. Also make sure the board is very clean before you coat or its worthless. You will be able to get very accurate results without masking. Let me know if you need any more info.

We have a capacitor and an inductor that stick up approx 2.5", any problems with the spray nozzle working around tall objects? Thank you for your input.

No problem if you get the tilt head option. Also depending on the geography you can just lift the nozzle up and the spray pattern will fan out more. The software is really good, i think you'll be impressed.

My name is Stephanie Baldwin. I work for USI and have been following this forum. I would suggest that you give both USI and Asymtek the opportunity to coat a sample board for you. You can then compare the two technologies side by side. If possible, it would also be helpful for you to visit both companies for a demonstration.

Good idea, pick the most difficult of your PCB and watch the final result. If you can, go to each company and watch the machine how it coats your board. You'll see what is the most suitable for you.

We have a PVA conformal coating machine that is working good for us. you might also want to give them a try. just my 2 cents worth...not associated with PVA in any way
