Problem with Reed switch hermeticity | 12 July, 2009

I have a problem we change a product from leaded to lead free, I was not involve in the selection of the new reed switch, but now we are having problems with the hermeticity in the switch, this occurs after is overmould and put to a 6 cycles in the thermocycle. Some engineers are saying that the problem starts at the reflow oven, Iam using a 3 zone reflow oven with these temps. 128 210 260 at .55m/min first thing can the reflow at those temp cause the glass to thermal shock the seal in the switch or do some damage to the seal?

So, what happens when you: * Run the switches through the reflow oven as piece parts, not assembled on the board? * Pot the switches as piece parts, not assembled on the board?

I have put them thru the reflow just the switches and theres no problem even then I put them back on tape and reel and again to the reflow and test them again and they all pass
