Filters Description:

A filter is a circuit composed of capacitors, inductors, and resistors. It is designed to selectively filter out specific frequencies or remove frequencies outside a certain range in a power line. This results in the extraction of a power signal of a desired frequency, or the elimination of unwanted signals. Filters play a vital role in signal processing, particularly in the realm of DC regulated power supplies. In these supplies, the filter's function is to minimize the AC component of pulsating DC voltage while preserving its DC component. This process reduces the ripple coefficient of the output voltage, resulting in a smoother waveform.

Filters are categorized based on the type of signal they process: analog filters for analog signals and digital filters for digital signals. Additionally, based on the frequency band they allow to pass, filters are classified into low-pass, high-pass, band-pass, band-stop, and all-pass filters.
