I have two questions that maybe someone can answer?

1. Can or should lead free components be used with standard 63/37 processes? including sn/pb pcb's?

2. Can or should sn/pb components be used for lead free process? I have recieved mixed feeling on both the above questions, can someone possibly shed more light to help me answer these questions. Much Thanks, Brad

1. Yes, you are probably doing it now on a daily basis.

2. No, not if you want to meet the requirments for lead free.

I would recommend that you search the archives on this. This topic has been discussed to great length on many occasions.

yes you can use lead-free components and/or lead-free solder paste on Sn/Pb PCBs. You do get reliable joints.

as already mentioned, it doesn't meet the WEEE and RoHS requirement.
