Looking for Cleaning solvent to claen missprinted PCB, that will be good for paste (CS) and glue (PS). One that is easy to evaporate with out leaving white powder around component leads on CS (when cleaning PS)

I started using Ensolv about a year ago. It's the best solvent I've found yet for cleaning uncured adhesive. It's also recommended for board cleaning, although I haven't used it on wet paste. As the name implies, its environmentally friendly with no CFC's, HFC's, etc. It's manufactured by EnviroTech in California. Their number is (510) 436-7603. I purchase it through a local distributor.

Smart Sonic's 440-R SMT Detergent cleans all types of solder paste, wet SMD adhesives and post solder flux residue from misprinted PCBs, stencils and tooling. 440-R SMT Detergent is non hazardous and is certified by the Air Quality Management District as a "Clean Air Chemistry." Smart Sonic's phone number is: 1(800) 806-440-R. | Looking for Cleaning solvent to claen missprinted PCB, that will be good for paste (CS) and glue (PS). | One that is easy to evaporate with out leaving | white powder around component leads on CS (when cleaning PS)

The boards should be washed, not just wiped down with a solvent. Adhesives don't present this problem but pastes do. Just something to keep in mind. Regards, Justin Medernach

| Looking for Cleaning solvent to claen missprinted PCB, that will be good for paste (CS) and glue (PS). | One that is easy to evaporate with out leaving | white powder around component leads on CS (when cleaning PS) Solder paste cleaning can be accomplished effectively by using either a solvent based cleaner or an alkaline detergent. Some physical agitation of the cleaning fluid is normally required whether ultrasonic energy or pressure spray. However, adhesive removal can only be accomplished by selecting certain types of solvents. Alakaline detergents will not remove adhesive residues even with ultrasonic energy or pressure spray. As far as the solvent choice for adhesive cleaning, it is generally restricted to halogenated hydrocarbons and certain Glycol Ethers such as Megasolv (TM) NOC. Both types have inherent advantages and disadvantages. Generally toxicity cocerns and price are the most decisive factors. If you still have questions/concerns, please call our resident chemist at (512) 335-6400. Hope this helps and good luck. Roxanne Picou Austin American Technology
