Europlacer feeders and trolleys | 22 December, 2020

We are looking to buy a 2nd hand Europlacer p-n-p. We would be very grateful to have a real production competent opinion about EP feeders/trolleys

Questions:

1. generally how good/bad are older (Gen1, Gen2) Europlacer feeders and trolleys systems comparing to other major manufacturers ?

2. how better are Gen2 vs Gen1 trolleys and their respective feeder elements ? Overlay spools, etc.

3. how better are Gen2 NT feeders vs Gen1 feeders ?

4. consistency, lost components, changeover time per element, feeder maintenance and calibrations, etc.

The question was if Gen 1 feeders/trolleys worth to invest or better try to buy EP Gen 2 feeders/trolleys even if significantly much expensier/rare on used machines market.

Hi, As a user of EP P&P machines for over 20 years I have used Gen 1 & Gen 2 Trolleys. If you can get Gen 2 Trolleys with Elements that would be the preference as there are a few options available on the Gen 2 not on Gen 1. That said the Gen 1 Trolleys are still good and I am still using some that are 20 years old on a daily basis. The other great thing with EP is that whatever trolleys you get they are backward and forward compatible.

Go for Gen 2 NT feeders, the Gen 1 Feeders tend to be problematic the older they get whereas the Gen 2 feeders are a much better prospect. I've used 8, 12, 16, 24 and 44mm. Some problems to look out for is pull back of coverlay and removal of waste tape if not done regularly it can be a cause of component losses. If you have excessively sticky coverlay tape it can cause jams. Make sure each reel of components has sufficient empty tape and coverlay at the front end for loading as without this it will be a source of component losses. Generally of you look after them they are great feeders. If you do a lot of changeovers it can become quite a bit of work loading and unloading if they are not on a trolley. Currently only use 44mm now as we have changed over to trolleys and elements (105 trolleys' fully loaded with elements!). Hope that helps
