Hello,

We are having difficulty soldering the above BGA. We believe it may be a high temp ball on this BGA. Cannot get info on this part. Anyone ever use it in mfg?

Doesn't look like it would be deliberately high temp for it's functionality or package type, unless it was accidental on a batch at the packaging plant.

To get the datasheet you have to either go through the "request Info" on https://www.kingston.com/en/embedded/emmc or kick your purchasing team to request it from the supplier.

Can you afford to sacrifce a board and try and place it with tacky flux instead of paste, preferably via a BGA rework station so you can see what is going on, and possibly counter any contamination?

Hi rob,

I did request info from Kingston but their on-line help is basically no help. they bounce your around from one group to another.

we have reflowed the part at high temp settings and it does seem to work. I was just wondering if I could get confirmation that this is truly a high temp part? If so, I would change my solder paste and profile to accommodate.

If you can scrap a board and part then drill a small hole through the other side and attach a thermocouple to a ball in the middle when you run a profile.
